Creating in Portland, OR, Kala Warman is a multi-disciplinary artist. Her love of symbolic imagery and the depths of a symbol's meaning drives her to seek understanding by studying their roots in culture, comparative religion narratives, the progression of the human psyche, and the symbols counterpart in science. Using these symbols, she attempts to understand past human narratives, and expand upon them, completing the cycle of human storytelling. Using strong contrasts in light and dark, she creates readable forms, and works to create a "laymans" visual vocabulary that is accessible to all. Motion and an ever present sense of change is exemplified in long, flowing lines, and strong mark making.
